Distinguishing Features: well, her eyes change color. Her skin sparkles in the sunlight. She has a crescent shaped scar on her hand where James bit her when she was still human…
Physical Description: Bella is roughly average height, standing 5’6” tall. She’s half a foot shorter than her husband, but that’s just right to her. As is usual for a vampire, she is slim and her muscles are quite toned under her granite skin. Her flesh is impossibly pale, but it has a porcelain sort of quality to it. Her hair is dark brown and mostly straight, though it tends to get wavy when it’s raining. Once upon a time, her eyes were a lovely shade of brown. When she was first changed, they were a vibrant red. Now, they range from black to a brilliant gold color depending on her hunger.
The girl refuses to wear fancy clothes unless she has no other choice. It’s really not necessary. She likes to keep it simple. Most of the time, she just wears jeans, though she can be caught in other kinds of pants. As a vampire, of course, she doesn’t get cold, and would be glad to wear basic tee shirts most of the time. She wears sweaters and jackets as necessary to keep up the human appearance, though. She wears tennis shoes more often than not, and high heels are practically her worst enemy. She rarely wears makeup (luckily she doesn’t need it now) and pretty much always wears her hair down.

Personality: Bella has always been a very caring person. She tends to put the needs of others before her own needs, sometimes resulting in actions that are detrimental to her own health and well-being. She’d rather make other people happy than make herself happy. Which is exactly how she wound up on Forks to begin with. If she had to choose, she’d keep her loved ones safe and put herself in danger. That’s how the situation with James ended up the way it did. She’d also die in place of anyone she loved. Her biggest hangup about becoming a vampire was the fact that it would be difficult for her family.
She’s rather polite and tactful. Even when she’s delivering news she knows someone won’t like, she tries to do so in a way that minimizes their suffering. She won’t get in the way of someone else if they want the same thing she does unless it has to do with her husband or her daughter. She’s always been the mothering sort and found herself nurturing her own mother rather than the other way around. After she moved to Forks, she ended up nurturing her father a bit, too. Of course, those instincts came in handy after Renesmee was born.
Although she’s not the strongest one around, Bella is very protective of those she cares about. She does all she can to keep them safe and happy. She’ll hide the truth from them if she needs to, but she doesn’t outright lie. Not if she can help it, anyway. Bella is a terrible liar, and it’s very easy to tell when she’s trying to fool you. Every now and again, though, she can act pretty well. Especially if she thinks whatever she’s trying to make you believe will protect you.
Determination is a key factor in her personality. Bella does not give up easily. When she wants something, she will not stop until she gets it. If she doesn’t know how to get it, she’ll try any means she can think of until she figures it out. She isn’t a major fan of arguing, but she hates to lose an argument. She is quite intelligent and can certainly come up with a million reasons why you should be on her side.
As many years as she’s had to get over it, Bella is still the shy type. She was overwhelmed with all of the attention she got when she arrived in Forks and it still surprises her when she receives attention from most people. The girl enjoys spending time alone and can lose herself in a book. She doesn’t seem to have much of a need for friends or socialization in general. She’s easily embarrassed, and when she was human, that manifested in a great deal of blushing. Nine times out of ten, she can find a way to make herself look silly in any situation.
The girl has a rather dry sense of humor. She tends to find things funny that other people don’t, and it’s kind of difficult to tell when she’s making a joke. That doesn’t mean she is completely humorless, though. She can certainly laugh at herself if need be, and she does see the humor in the rest of the world.
Bella hates to be surprised and is kind of a home body. She likes things to be the way that she’s comfortable with them. She doesn’t deal terribly well with change. She’s often afraid to try things if she doesn’t already know that she can do them. She also doesn’t like to project her own moods on others if she can help it. She considers herself the type to suffer in silence.
Parents: Renee Dwyer (mother), Charlie Swan (father), Phil Dwyer (step-father), Carlisle Cullen (father in law), Esme Cullen (mother in law)
Siblings: only the in-laws… Alice Cullen, Rosalie Hale, Jasper Hale, Emmett Cullen.
Other: Husband – Edward Cullen, Daughter – Renesmee Cullen
History: Isabella Marie Swan was born in Forks, Washington. She never quite lived there long enough to remember it, though. Forks wasn’t the sort of place that her mother, Renee, wanted to spend the rest of her life. Renee decided to leave her husband and moved to Phoenix, Arizona. Bella grew up there, turning into more of an adult than she really should have. Renee had always been the adorable, flaky sort, and someone had to take care of her.
Bella was nearly sixteen when her mother met Phil Dwyer. The two dated for quite a while and Bella couldn’t help but be happy when her mother decided to marry the minor league baseball player. Of course, Phil’s career meant a lot of traveling, and Renee seemed lost without him when he wasn’t there. So Bella decided to do the selfless thing. She moved to Forks to live with her father, though she hadn’t seen him in years. That way, her mother could travel the country with her husband.
Of course Forks was a far cry from Phoenix. It was cloudy, cold, and rainy most of the time. She’d left what friends she had in the other state, and being rather the shy sort, Bella wasn’t really the most excited, but she did what she had to do. Being at Forks High was kind of like being in kindergarten again. She was the new girl. It made her the hot commodity. Like the shiny new toy. Far too many people wanted to talk to her. A few too many guys wanted to date her.
The workings of the teenage mind are a little on the complex side. With more guys than she was used to breathing around vying for her company, Bella was only really interested in the one who wouldn’t speak to her. The first time she saw Edward Cullen, Bella knew he was beautiful. Every time she saw him for quite a while, though, he gave her every reason to believe he hated her.
It’s a little hard to believe someone hates you, though, when they start saving your life. First was the incident in Port Angeles. Then the van accident. It didn’t take Bella too long to put together the pieces. Especially after she heard the stories her friend Jacob Black told her. When she confronted Edward about it, he told her what she wanted to know. It didn’t take them long to realize that they couldn’t seem to stay away from one another.
Bella and Edward began dating, and, of course, it wasn’t exactly easy. It resulted in a pretty dramatic series of events. To start with, Bella became the object of James’s attention. James was a hunter, and Edward’s love for Bella made her the most interesting prey he could have had. After a spectacular fight with her father in which Bella told him exactly the same thing her mother had said when she left, Bella fled Forks and headed back to Phoenix. Unfortunately, the Cullen family had gone in different directions to confuse the hunter, and Bella, thinking he had her mother, managed to meet with him alone. In the end, James was killed, but he bit Bella. Edward managed to suck the venom out before she was turned into a vampire. He even did the unthinkable and stopped himself from drinking her blood, though it is nearly irresistible to him.
After the episode with James, Bella hoped the issues were over. Of course she was just about to set into one of the most difficult years of her life. As much as she hates parties, Bella knew she couldn’t escape the one Alice had planned for her. Unfortunately, she managed to get a paper cut and was nearly attacked by Jasper. Shortly thereafter, the Cullen family decided that it was dangerous to be around her. Edward lied to Bella, telling her he didn’t love her anymore, and they broke up.
She moped for quite a long time. But her father wouldn’t stand for it. Eventually, he forced her to go out and be social. It was the first time she’d been out and she found herself being a little careless. As she approached a group of rough-looking guys outside of a bar, Bella heard Edward’s voice in her head. She set out on a string of less than responsible behaviors, fixing up a couple of motorcycles with Jacob and learning to ride them. Eventually, she decided to try cliff diving. Alice had a vision of the girl jumping off a cliff and told Rosalie, who slipped and told Edward. Believing she was dead, Edward went to Italy to let the Volturi take his life. He’d rather die than live without Bella. Fortunately, Alice came for Bella, told her the situation, and went with her to stop Edward. Unfortunately, the Volturi found out about her and offered an ultimatum. The Cullens had to turn Bella into a vampire. If this was not done, they would kill Bella. Edward agrees to turn Bella if she marries him first.
Once they returned to Forks, Bella and Edward faced more drama. Victoria, James’s mate, had begun forming an army of newborn vampires. The Cullens had to work together with the werewolves to defeat the army. Of course that gave Bella plenty of time to realize just how much she also cared about Jacob. Jacob and Edward had to agree to trust one another and to trust Bella to decide what was best for her.
After that debacle, Edward and Bella became officially engaged. Nervous as ever, they told her parents. It wasn’t what they expected, but the families ended up happy about it. Alice took care of all the details, and Bella and Edward were wed. After the ceremony, Edward took Bella on a honeymoon to Esme’s island. After a few nights of passion, Bella turned up pregnant. The couple were scared out of their wits, but Bella persuaded Rosalie to help her convince Carlisle and Edward to let her keep the baby.
It took a while, but they figured out that the child was going to be part vampire. Bella began drinking blood so that she could nourish the child. She nearly died giving birth to the baby, which she named Renesmee. In essence, she really did die. Edward brilliantly injected venom into her. He also bit her in all of the key locations he could think of to make her transformation as quick as possible.
After a few days of agonizing pain, Bella woke up, graceful, strong, and starving. She went out hunting and did what most newborn vampires are incapable of. She managed to stop herself from attacking a human, though she smelled the blood.
Renesmee was mistaken for an immortal vampire child by an onlooking vampire. These are forbidden in the vampire world, and when word reached the Volturi, they came out to investigate. They saw what they thought was a vampire child and set out to punish the Cullens and eliminate the danger. Fortunately, Alice came through in the hour of need and proved to the Volturi that human-vampire hybrids had been born in the past and were able to live peaceably with humans and with vampires.
With Renesmee’s body and mind aging rapidly, and Jacob’s imprinting on the child, things were pretty hectic with the Cullens. They moved as soon as was reasonable and Bella forbade Jacob to visit them. She and Edward made the decision together that their daughter was aging too quickly. They bit her, injecting her with the venom, but she did not become a full vampire. Still, she ages far more slowly than she did and she’ll have the chance to enjoy the years that might have whizzed by in weeks otherwise.
The Cullens have now returned to Forks, and Bella is doing her best to be there for her daughter while still doing what she ought to as a friend and a wife. There’s only so much she can do, though. Jacob was once one of her best friends, and she knows he’s a wonderful guy. She wants him to have what he wants, but she’s not sure she’s willing to accept that what he wants is her daughter. Besides that, she’s not going to encourage her daughter to fall for him when that’s not what she wants at this point.
RP Sample:Bella’s eyes squinted against the bright morning sun. One hundred eighteen years of practice and she still wasn’t a fan of mornings. You’d think the lack of sleep would make mornings less bothersome, but not sleeping just meant she had more hours to dread the morning if she wasn’t being distracted. Fortunately for her, she had an entire family of vampires who also lived without sleep. Usually, they were there to keep her from focusing too much on the approaching morning. She’d grown weary of most of their company during the long hours of the night last night, though, and sought solitude.
When the Cullens had returned to Forks, Bella had been surprised to find that they managed to get the same house they’d lived in when she’d been human, a century ago. She really shouldn’t have, though. The place was beautiful, but the Cullens hadn’t sold it. She figured they’d always had intentions of returning. Along with that house, they’d managed to keep up the small cottage she and Edward had received for their wedding. It was the perfect place to sneak away for a bit of time alone.
Armed with perhaps her twentieth copy of Wuthering Heights, the girl headed for the cottage. Any other book she might have wanted to read would have been stocked on the small bookshelf she’d used in the past. She couldn’t bear to be away from this one, though. She tucked the well worn book under her arm and stepped out of the house. The moment her feet touched the ground, Bella was running. The cool air whipped against her bare arms. If she was human, she might have been cold, but she’d nearly forgotten what cold felt like. Her marble skin would never feel it again.
Moments later, Bella crept through the door of the small cottage. Her eyes adjusted quickly o the dim light the moon provided through the window and she tiptoed through the rooms, remembering what it had been like to live here with her husband in the days just after they were wed. Those had been some of the best nights she could remember. With a wistful sigh, she curled up on the floor, just below the window. Her head rested against the wall and she flipped the book open, her eyes falling to focus on the first page.
1801. - I have just returned from a visit to my landlord - the solitary neighbour that I shall be troubled with. This is certainly a beautiful country! In all England, I do not believe that I could have fixed on a situation so completely removed from the stir of society. A perfect misanthropist's heaven: and Mr. Heathcliff and I are such a suitable pair to divide the desolation between us. A capital fellow! He little imagined how my heart warmed towards him when I beheld his black eyes withdraw so suspiciously under their brows, as I rode up, and when his fingers sheltered themselves, with a jealous resolution, still further in his waistcoat, as I announced my name. 'Mr. Heathcliff?' I said.
A nod was the answer.
Her ears prickled as a sound from outside caught her attention. The others had been at the main Cullen house. They wouldn’t have come out here knowing she intended to be alone. Her head whipped quickly to the side and her eyes moved to scan the ground, but it was to no avail. Her brow furrowed and the girl moved to the door. She opened it and stepped outside, curious, and not nearly as afraid as she probably should have been. Who’s there? she asked, the chimes of her voice echoing through the night. All at once, she was assaulted by a sharp scent. It made her nose wrinkle in protest and she grimaced. It was a scent she recognized, though. The scent of a wolf. Jake? she asked, looking in the bushes around her. She didn’t see the eyes she knew so well, though. Instead, she heard movement to her left. She froze in place and let her eyes fix on the spot. A moment later, a slender wolf emerged from the bushes. Oh… Leah. She offered the wolf a half smile, but wouldn’t bother for more communication than that. Last she’d checked, the wolf hated vampires. She didn’t want a problem.
