Jake looked up at the big Barnes and Noble building from the sidewalk across from it. Reading really wasn't his thing, but he wanted to be a bit more literate and familiar with more of the books around. Walking across the street and nearly getting hit by three cars, he managed to get to the door to the building. The doors were glass, like a lot of places' doors, but there were fingerprints all over them. The janitors probably had a lot of work to do around this place after closing.
Opening the double doors, he was immediately swamped by the smell of the crisp page and ink on paper. He hadn't expected it to be this stuffy in the book store. He took a deep breath, let it out, and hoped that he'd be able to navigate his way through the towering bookshelves. Honestly, who would need to get a book from a bookshelf ten feet high? It just seemed like stupidity on the librarians' part. Looking for the Young Adult section, like he always did in a bookstore, Jake found that it wasn't as hard as he thought it had been to find everything.
Once in the Young Adult section, he found himself being stared at by a blue dragon on the cover of a book. "Eragon?" he read the title to himself, then flipped the book open to the inside cover. Maybe it would be a good read? Oh, great. It was a fantasy book. Dragons and elves and dwarves and humans swarmed in the pages of this book, which just annoyed him. He knew that he'd had enough of fantasy for one immortal lifetime. Putting Eragon back, he turned to the other shelves.
After looking for almost an hour, Jake found himself thinking something that he never actually thought he'd say to himself. "Damn, I can't find anything good to read..." he muttered. He'd flipped through almost every genre of book there was to find in the Young Adult section, and almost everything was fantasy. Vampires, werewolves, shape shifters, dragons, elves, and all that jazz. Jake just wanted a normal book about normal people and nothing of the supernatural in it. Or at least, anything supernatural to normal people.
Maybe the Adult section would yield better results. Heading in that direction and whistling to himself, his thoughts turned to Renesmee like they always did. He knew that he had it really bad, even for imprinting. A good love story might be a nice change from the stress of the past couple of weeks. Getting between the shelves, he found a misplaced book. It was titled Stormbreaker. He flipped it open, then saw that it had six sequels behind it. Maybe this would be a good book to read?
