His russet brown skin goes with the rest of the Quileutes’.
As a wolf, he has long, red brown fur, a lot longer than the other wolves. His choice of clothes usually just consists of ripped jeans. They’re easier to replace and easier to carry around when he needs to phase.

Jake is your classic underdog, if you’ll pardon the pun. He’s a good guy, a loyal friend, but he’s not the true “hero” type. He’s humble, quiet, and extremely fun to be around. Sometimes he ends up being a goof, but that’s okay with him. He’s been a loner for a while, and kind of finds it hard to regroup with the rest of them after being deserted by the Cullens. He’s still hurting from that, but hides it under a mask of goofiness and laughter.
He loves Renesmee almost too much. He’s practically obsessing over her when she’s not there, and for the hundred years he was without her, he was always sad and lonely, but pretended not to be for his pack’s sake. And even when Renesmee goes out with Seth, Jake doesn’t mope around. He puts on a smile and wishes them good luck, hiding the jealousy that sprouts and beating it down before anyone can see. He’s nice to Seth, but only because of Renesmee. He misses their friendship as well, but he doesn’t know what’s more important to him, loving Renesmee or being friends with Seth.
His humility sometimes goes a bit far. He didn’t think that he was born to do anything special in life, or that he was born to do anything special. He really doesn’t believe in destiny all that much, save for imprinting. He truly thinks of himself as the underdog, not the hero that saves the day, but the guy off to the side. It only got worse when the Cullens left and made him stay behind.
He gets easily angered, but he can keep tabs on his temper well. He usually doesn’t let his temper go out of hand, but sometimes he can’t do anything about it. He gets easily emotional too, and it hurts him to have Renesmee reject him. He usually doesn’t let anyone see it though, which really isn’t all that good. He keeps it bottled up inside until he snaps. Which doesn’t end up being very good for anyone.
He gets machines a lot better than he does girls, or at least, he says so. He’s observant, but he doesn’t get what goes on most of the time in a girl’s mind. Machines have a definite tune to them, and women just don’t. He even built his own car, and he keeps it in good shape. He usually spends a lot of time in his garage fixing up something mechanical before going out and spending time with friends. Although, he always makes time for Renesmee when she wants to see him.
He’s kind, loyal and maybe just a bit too trusting of people. He still stays loyal to Bella and Edward, even though they had gone back on their word to take him along. He also stays loyal to Renesmee, even though there are plenty of other girls out there he could have chosen. He’d never make her choose between him and Seth, because he knows that that would hurt her, and he’d go along and support her no matter who she chooses.

History: 4+ paragraphs
Jake was born to Sarah and Billy Black. Sarah died in a car crash when he was very young, and Billy took care of him by himself from then on. He met Bella when they were younger, but she didn’t remember him when they met again. He tells her the Quileute legends of vampires and werewolves after she flirts with him. They end up getting along and become friends.
After Edward leaves Bella, Jake becomes Bella’s crutch. He helps her be somewhat normal again, even though she’s still got a huge hole in her heart. In the middle of Edward’s absence, Jake phases for the first time and is kept on the reservation for about a month. He comes back to Bella, changed from his experience. He says that he doesn’t want to hurt her, and that he should stay away from her.
Bella ends up jumping off the cliff before Jake gets there to do it with her. He rescues her, and gets her back to her house. When Jake and Bella are in the middle of a conversation, the phone rings. Jake picks it up, and tells the person on the other end of the phone, who he presumes to be Carlisle, that Charlie is “at the funeral.” Harry Clearwater, Seth and Leah’s dad, had just passed away, and Charlie was at his funeral. The person he was talking to was really Edward, and he takes “at the funeral” to mean “at Bella’s funeral.” Bella rushes out to save Edward, while Jake is left behind.
Bella comes back after three days, and Jake is worried. Three days is all it could take for Bella to have been turned. He calls her up and asks if she’s going to school the next day, which she replies to with a yes. Jake is relieved that she wasn’t turned, and he knows that Edward will be with Bella. When the two get to school, Jake is there. They talk, and Jake gets upset. Bella calms both of them down, but the last time she sees Jake, his face is contorted in pain as he is leaving.
Jake and Bella communicate through notes for a while, and he doesn’t exactly know what he’s trying to say to her. He stays away from her, but he doesn’t like her being around vampires. Later, his affections for her keep growing stronger, and he is deeply shaken and upset when she tells him that she’s going to be turned at graduation. He tells her that he loves her, and he kisses her, only to get a punch in the jaw for his efforts.
When the pack decides to work together with the Cullens to protect Bella, Jake and Edward have to team up to protect her. They camp out in the wilderness to keep her safe, and a blizzard hits. Edward and Bella reluctantly let Jake warm Bella up, which means getting into her sleeping bag. Jake and Edward talk a bit, which Bella thinks is a dream.
But when Edward and Bella discuss marriage plans with Jake outside, he runs away in pain. Bella pleads for Edward to bring him back, which he does. Jake threatens Bella with going off to go kill himself because she doesn’t love him. She ends up kissing him in an agreement that he wouldn’t kill himself. Jake leaves to go finish the fight, leaving Bella, Seth and Edward there alone.
Jake gets injured in the fight while saving Leah, and Carlisle patches him up. Jake and Bella talk while he’s healing, and Jake agrees not to try and take Bella from Edward anymore, even though that’s really all he wants to do. Jake says that he’ll always be there when Bella needs him.
Jake heals quickly, and he gets a note from Edward, saying “Thanks for everything.” Jake can’t handle this, and the first chance he gets, he runs away, phases, and leaves “Jacob Black” behind him. He traveled for a long time as a wolf, but ended up coming back in time for Bella and Edward’s wedding, which he comes to and ends up flipping out over.
Jake later finds out that Bella is pregnant with Edward’s child. He is kind of shaken at seeing Edward so distraught over it. He tries to help, but Bella doesn’t want to give up her child. The pack then decide that the baby is a threat and that they’re going to kill it and Bella, to which Jake refuses and splits off from the pack. Seth and Leah come with him.
After Bella gives birth, she would have died if not for Edward’s quick thinking of injecting his venom directly into her heart. Jake goes to kill Renesmee, Bella’s daughter, for killing her, but imprints on her when he sees her. Sam’s pack stops trying to attack the Cullens, since it would be against the law to kill the object of another wolf’s imprinting.
Alice sees the Volturi attacking the Cullens, and Bella gets Jake and Renesmee passports to go to Brazil. The Volturi come, and it turns out to be a big misunderstanding, so they leave. Jake and Nessie are able to relax, at least until Bella decides that Jake can’t go with them in their travels.
So, Jake is left on the reservation, without Nessie, for a hundred years. The packs are still split up, and Jake misses Nessie every day. He doesn’t let anyone know, but he is practically overjoyed when she and the rest of the Cullens come back. But what crushes his heart is that Nessie doesn’t like him back. He ends up finding out that she likes Seth, which irks him a lot. And the fact that Seth fell in love with her just hurt him even more. So now, Jake has a choice to make. Does he let Nessie be happy, even if she’s with another guy? Or try to take her back, at the risk of distancing her from him even more?

Jake sighed to himself. Nessie was out with Seth tonight, and he really missed her. Sometimes he caught himself being jealous of Seth when that happened, and then he ended up getting into an argument with himself. He really hated doing that, it made him feel like he was crazy. And he really needed to stop thinking in the third person.
He got up and went over to the window, staring out at the moonlit night. It was nights like these that reminded him of the long hundred years without Nessie, and he remembered just how much he had missed her back then. And then she came back, only to tell him that she didn’t want him like that. It really did hurt, but what else was he to do? He didn’t want to force her, that would just be bad. He’d hurt her, he’d hurt Seth, he’d hurt himself because Nessie was hurt, and nobody would be happy.
Jake grabbed an extra pair of pants and tied it to his leg, then ran into the forest and phased. He needed to let off some steam, maybe go running or take a swim or something. He couldn’t keep thinking about the time she was gone, or else he knew that something bad would happen. He had gotten really good at siphoning off his temper when it started to get bad, by running around and wearing himself out so that he didn’t have the energy to be mad. He thought this was a really good idea, and he was proud of himself for thinking of it.
He ran for about an hour, chasing a couple of squirrels at one point. It was fun, and he didn’t have to really worry about all the drama of being human. He could lose himself in being a wolf for a while. It really did bring back memories though... Running with Nessie, playing around with her, making a fool of himself to make her laugh... He remembered it like it was yesterday, and he really missed her.
Jake sighed. This wasn’t working. He phased back and put on his pants, but he didn’t go back to his house yet. He still had stuff to think about, stuff that just wouldn’t go away if he went home. He needed to stay in the forest for a bit, and hopefully no one would try looking for him. They all knew that he needed time by himself. And that meant they’d leave him alone, right? Hopefully.
He sighed again and decided to climb a tree. He was kind of bored without Nessie there. She made him a lot happier than anything else did, and he knew that that was probably from the imprinting, but he still liked it. How could Seth fall in love with her when he hadn’t imprinted on her? It just confused him, but he didn’t think much of it. He had imprinted on Bella’s daughter, when he had claimed to love Bella. That was odd in itself.
Jake stayed up in the tree, just thinking about things, for a long time, and when he saw the sun’s rays start to light the sky, he sighed. Another sleepless night. He had been having a lot of those lately, and he knew he couldn’t sleep during the day. Maybe he’d occupy himself with a patrol. That might be able to get his mind off of Nessie.
He laughed to himself. Nothing would be able to take his mind off of her. He loved her, and that was really all there was to it. He sighed and got down from the tree, making his way out of the forest. He shuffled his bare feet against the forest floor, kind of depressed. He missed being friends with Seth, but he was really jealous of Seth. What did Seth have that he didn’t? And why was Nessie so infatuated with him when Jake had loved her for a hundred years? Seth had only known her and loved her like that for three months... It was unfair.
Jake sighed. “Of course, Jake, pull yourself together.” he mumbled. Life was never fair. That’s just the way things went. His imprint was being stolen away from him by his best friend. That just wasn’t right. Even if Seth had imprinted on her, did Nessie not remember how much fun they had had together...? He wanted to go see Edward, maybe talk with him about this, but he couldn’t bring himself to do it. Nessie was his imprint, and there was no way he was just going to sit back and watch as Seth took her from him.
